DRD (Drag Rescue Device) System
The Drag Rescue Device (DRD) system is a technology used in the field of emergency response, particularly in firefighting and rescue operations. The DRD system is designed to rapidly extract an incapacitated or injured individual, such as a firefighter, from hazardous or confined spaces. It enhances the efficiency and speed of rescue operations, reducing the risk to both the victim and the rescuers. on the other hand, IRS (Integrated Rescue System) focus on cases the personnel can lean into the tense extended system and keep both hands free without a risk of falling.
DRD handle is designed to be used with one hand to pull a downed or injured firefighter to safety. Simply pull the loop which tucked into the back collar and have an easy grip on the firefighter.
NFPA 1971 outlines the guidelines that all new firefighting (turnout) coat or jacket must meet the requirement of DRD. To do so, the DRD must pass all the standard tests for flame and heat resistance as outlined in NFPA 1971.
The DRD system is broadly used on EN469 certified firefighting suits in the recent years, even though DRD doesn’t required for EN469:2020. Nevertheless, SUPER ARMOR® insist to provide option for including DRD system on firefighting suit, with FR strap made of 100% Para-Aramid.
