Importance of Dope-dye
Importance of Dope-dye
Better color fastness of the fire resistant fabric can effectively prolong the durability and harmlessness of the protective clothing. Common flame retardant fibers sacrifice fiber strength to pursue bright colors.
Since yarn-dye or piece-dye will result in physical loss of the fabrics, firefighters should choose flame-retardant fabrics made of dope-dyed fibers to avoid dyeing agents or chemical treatments remaining on the fabrics due to poor dyeing processes.
Inherently fire resistance of KANOX® and MAZIC® Fabrics comes originally from the fibers, for example aramid, FR Viscose, FR modacrylic, pan oxidized fiber, antistatic fiber, etc. Due to physical feature, some fibers are not dyeable.
The primary colors of undyable fibers are mostly white, yellow, and black. When we blend undyable fibers and colored fibers to create the desired fabric color, we must also take into account the strength, shrinkage, and heat resistance of the fabric. These are not only techniques, but also require years of experience and great patience of trial and error to achieve.
SUPER ARMOR® insists on using dope-dyed fibers for spinning and weaving, not only to maintain the color fastness of the fabric at least level 4, but also to minimize the environmental pollution caused by dyeing.
